This is one of the most common questions clients ask SEO professionals and arguably the most difficult to answer. The reason being that it’s impossible to make an accurate speculation of when your SEO campaign would take off. If you push hard enough, some SEOs might give 4-6 months for you to start seeing results. But that’s only an educated guess and the truth is, it depends. A few variables play a role in determining the speed of SEO success, and your industry and competitors play a large part of it. For instance, if you run a bakery in your area, your results may show faster than that of a lawyer in your city. Basically, the more competition you’re up against, the longer it’d take you to see results. Likewise, the closer you get to the first page, the harder it becomes to break into the scene. Inbound links also determine how long you’ll start seeing SEO results. Having a higher number of links put you on the fast lane, but it’s not all a numbers game. Gathering a ton of links from low-quality sites may hurt your campaign’s results. At the end of the day, it is quality links from relevant industry leaders that continue to run the show. Finally, the quality of content you publish inevitably affects how quickly you’d see results because remember, content remains king. Unfortunately, hiring cheap content mills to crank out boring articles for your website no longer cuts it. Now, you have to publish engaging articles that solve your readers’ problems regularly to stand a chance. Also, ignore the myth that you should publish content slowly – publish as soon as you have new content and do so consistently.
